John Legend Live in HK.

The John Legend in Hong Kong at Asia world expo. When I first agreed on going to John Legend, I didn’t know many of his songs but after listening to them, he sounded great. Tonights concert, his first tour in Hong Kong was great. We had to wait a while before he came out, that was a bit frustrating but it was all worth it.

John Legend’s voice is great and his songs are beautiful, from the way he sings them to the lyrics of the songs. His band: the background vocals, the drummer, the keyboard, the bass, the guitar, they were all great musicians and went along with John Legend very well. John Legend’s style of music was very relaxing, very easy going music. His lyrics reflected life and relationships. They are all songs and lyrics that we can relate to at different times in our life jouney.

One of the feelings that I felt very strongly during the concert was one that is rare. I usually don’t care about a boy friend, but the music affected me in a way that I wanted someone to be there by my side. Just that romantic easy going kinda feeling. Good thing was, I didn’t have anyone in mind. I’m still young, no matter how strongly I feel about having a boy friend, it doesn’t stop me from finding someone that will treat me right. Someone who has a huge heart for God and won’t stop serving Him.

There’s my thought of the night.

life’s winning.

Sometimes life hits us all at the same time. And we don’t know how to deal with it. These next few days we will be getting our exam grades back, some will be happy, some will be disappointed. Some of us can pick ourselves back up easily and in a short period of time, and for some of us, it will take a while.

Besides grades, some of us are struggling socially. Maybe you’ve just transfered to a new school, getting use to the system and friends in the middle of the year is tough. Maybe you’re having problems with your friends. Relationship problems. It seems like many things are going on at this point in time. Or maybe you just feel awkward and out of it for no reason? Perhaps that’s me.

Whatever it is, Whatever you are struggling with, hang in there. This is only a short period of our life. We have a whole life waiting for us, to accept the challenge. Junior year is important, grades are important but those will not be important in the long term.

What is important is your friends, your peers. Talk to them, comfort them if they’re down, crack a stupid joke, and just be with them. No matter what plans I had, if a friend, a best friend needs me, I will be right by her side because it is one of the hardest things to watch a friend get hurt. Very hurt.

Hang in there, trust God to give you the strength.

“I have told you these things, so that you may have peace. In this world, you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world” – John 16:33

Start of a new semester

Exams are done. All done. All over! Least till June anyways. This semester have been a good but complicated semester, I have a sense that second semester will be very good, with all that I am doing.

Jon got back a couple of nights ago and it’s been good seeing him and hanging out when we have the chance to. It’s good to press my number 2 speed dial again, it got a bit lonely.

Last friday was the Philippines Vision Trip Reunion. All except for a few couldn’t make it. I had a very good time seeing all of them again and hearing about their holidays and life.

I had a chance to catch up with a few friends today and it was good to go for sushi, walk around and just have fun and make jokes. They save me from the craziness of school, in and out of school.

Have you ever tried praying about something you really want answered? But you get impatient and you just don’t know what God wants you to do or if He is going to give you an answer or not? Well He is. He has everything planned and knows what’s going to happen next. The answers are not obvious, they will not be right in front of you just after you prayed. Sometimes the answers given are not the ones you wanted, or you were hoping for, but He has it all planned out, so Have a little trust. Every stumble is to pull you closer to God, to allow you to depend on Him all the time, pull you closer to brothers and sisters in Christ.

So don’t worry, don’t doubt, don’t be anxious and don’t be afraid. Because God has the answer for you, it’s up to you whether you decide to spend time to talk to God and find out what He has got set in for you.

God is taking care of us, through our sorrows and our pain. Whether it is evident to you or not. Keep trusting and He will do good.

The rare occasion

This past weekend, which was also our last weekend before school starts (which is today), I spent my time catching up with some friends. I’ve had friends in town but till this day, I have not had the time to meet up with them. I wish I had more time but this break has been good nontheless.

On Saturday, I met up with a friend who was my teacher assistant a few summers ago for an SAT prep course token at the HKIS Summer. The last time I talked to him was at the end of that summer. We hung out alot and used to talk every day that summer and he left for university and things got busy for the both of us. It is great catching up and amazes me how much a person can change. Spending a few hours talking about life and our goals and dreams of life is something you don’t do very often.

Saturday night, I took the LaTours, the Sutherlands, Scott and Jane for seafood dinner at Tuen Mun with my family. I’m sure it was quite an experience for them, it was fun talking and laughing with them through a dinner and seeing how much they enjoyed the seafood. The waiters and waitresses definitely served us even better when they were around. Probably because there were white people and that’s a very rare occasion all the way out in Tuen Mun. Of course, they were entertained by Lillian as well. Who isn’t?

I had a chance to go to a different church yesterday. A friend who works at St. Steven’s Society whom I met when they came to FISH for testimonies invited me to church, reminded me about it when I went to join the go-getters for a Japanese class. I decided to take this chance to go this to church before I get busy at school and I get too lazy to go all the way out on a sunday morning. It was a different experience, having the church be bilingual, but mostly chinese people who aren’t very good at english. It was quite charismatic, I guess you could say. I had lunch with some of them as well, and it was good getting to know them and having them interested in getting to know me.

Having to hear white people, foreigners be better at cantonese than I am is quite exciting though!

Back to school, Good luck on Exams and Have a great week. Happy New Year once again.

Cheers, Jo!
