Why are you here?

Have you ever thought about that? Probably not.. because I haven’t either. Why would anyone go around thinking to themselves why they’re on earth? But it is an important question. During FISH, Kelly spoke to us about this question. It was a really simple and short sermon but strong.

19Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.  Matthew 28:19

This is what God said to us before he died. The most important thing he wants us to know. Imagine yourself being on your death bed, what would you want to say to the world? What do you want to say to your love ones? This is what God said to us, and therefore we must go and spread the gospel. Share God’s love with others.

It’s not an easy task. Many of us spent a couple of days learning how to share our faith in DCLA, a christian youth conference held every three years in washington d.c. Trying to share you faith and God’s love is hard, there are going to be arguments between friends and disagreements. Share it gently, it will take time but God is working in you. Although it’s hard …

33“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” John 16:3

You are no where near overcoming the world, but that doesn’t matter because God is in us, and he has overcomed the world. Whatever troubles you have, He is there- right in your heart. When we were singing the response song – Lord, Reign in me. One of the lines stuck out at me.

Over every thought, over every word
May my life reflect the beauty of my Lord
Cause You mean more to me than any earthly thing
So won’t You reign in me again

It’s not an easy thing to do because we are filled with sin. But God died for us on the cross. He went to hell for three days. None of us want to go to hell, that’s for sure. So think how amazing that is. That he went to hell for us, for all our sins. I pray that  as the song mentions.. over every thought, over every word, May my life reflect the beauty of my Lord. You don’t have to say in their face that they should believe in God because He great. Just by the way you interact with others, by your actions.. it’s enough for others to know that the Lord is in you.

The first FISH wasn’t the best, personally. But this one was amazing. And I felt God working through Kelly and to let many of us know this important message. I thank God for that, I thank God for everything. And I pray everyone have a good week. Now go and be disciples of Christ. And everyone say……….. Amen.

Cheers!
