A thought we should keep.

This is my first wordpress blog and I quite like it.
Sometimes when we go to church, the things we learn during the specific week doesn’t affect us as much as they affect others. Today’s sermon by Pastor Brett applies to every one of us and personally, it really hit home; it cut deep. I don’t even know what to say about it. I’m speechless.

Mouth Ministry: The power of the mouth.

Don’t gossip.
Don’t lie… including exaggeration, misrepresenting the truth.
Don’t destroy… including sarcasm.

Do think before you speak… a filter in our mouth.
Do speak gently… maintain control.
Do encourage… use our voice to reflect Jesus Christ and our God.

An anxious heart weighs a man down, but a kind word cheers him up.
Proverbs 12.25

How many of us can say we follow that everyday of our lives and never make any mistakes? Everyday I struggle with these things, but often I don’t think about it as being wrong because sometimes it just comes into my head and I don’t think twice about it. But these are things we should have in our head every minute. It has really questioned everything I have said or done in the past and encourages me to change.

My cousin said to me towards the end: “I think this sermon is speaking towards me.” And the thought that I had the whole day after that was.. how amazing it is that God tells us things that we need to hear at the time we need to hear it the most. He knows what we need, and he knows what we need to learn to deal with on our own. God is absolutly amazing.

  1. hey jooo! i’m really really glad that God’s been speaking to you the way He does! It’s amazing how God can take something you haven’t thought about or considered in a loooong time and smack you across the face with it (in as nice of a way as possible of course!) and say…hey if you want to follow me and honour me better, consider this! Gosh the whole watching your mouth thing is something i havent thought about in a long time either, so thanks for posting that =)

  2. Heyyaaa Jo. πŸ™‚ Love the new site you’ve got here. Quite spiffy.
